A journey of a thousand miles...

...begins with this blog (elmerkang.blogspot.com).  After a long hiatus away from blogging through Xanga, I've decided to take another stab at it.  Just how long I'll keep it up heaven only knows (could be a thousand miles, could be one foot), but I need to exercise the discipline of writing in my life, especially as I prepare for seminary!  According to Sir Francis Bacon, "Reading maketh a full man, conference a ready man, and writing an exact man."  If writing makes an exact man, as sharp as a surgeon's scalpal, then I am probably the dullest knife in the kitchen drawer.  I'm tired of blubbering through my words, not being able to express my thoughts and views clearly, concisely, cogently, cohesively (how many of those words mean the same thing?  see what I mean?).

Moreover blogging provides me a convenient soapbox to express myself - not in a "hey i need validation! my views are important! listen to me!"  kind of way, but in hopes that anything that I might have to say would encourage and spur on others to "do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly" with God (Micah 6:8).  This should be the ultimate goal of everything we do in life.

So however you happened to stumble upon my humble blog, Welcome!  Please, feel free to leave any (constructive) criticism on how I can improve my writing or comment on any content.  Hope you can leave with just a little deeper appreciation of God's grace.  Happy blogging!

"To the King of ages, immortal, invisible
the only God,
be honor and glory forever and ever.
Amen."
